On January 22, 50 members of the Church of God visited Jahngji Village, a vinyl house village, in Songpa-gu, Seoul. This village has been appointed as a redevelopment zone. Numerous people live in shacks and vinyl houses in this area.

The Church of God delivered 2,000 briquettes and ten 20kg sacks of rice to 10 households, who were suffering most. At 11am, the members gathered at the entrance of the village and began to deliver the briquettes and rice sacks to each house.

To nearby houses, they delivered briquettes by passing them one another like a relay, and for the houses that were far away, they used wooden boards. The weather was windy and cold, but they did not feel the cold as they diligently worked.

Mu-sun Yun(72) was one of the households who received the briquettes and rice; She was taking care of her grandson who had lost his dad last year. She showed her tears, saying, "I'm sorry and thank you for your concern. You will all be blessed for your good deeds." Gun-tae Kim(64) thanked the members for working for the villagers in such cold day. He burned firewood for the members and offered them hot coffee.

The voluntary work finished at about 2pm. The seniors in the village praised the members for working hard with sooty faces, saying, "You are so bright. It may be because you believe in God." The members wished the villagers' welfare and hoped that the love of God which they delivered on that day could encourage the neighbors.

Giving a Haircut to the Handicapped and Seniors Living Alone

At around 10:00 am on January 25, about 20 members of the Church of God gathered together in front of the Village Office at Seongnam Sangdaewon 2-dong. They were greeting to each other with a bright smile, carrying all the necessary materials needed for the haircut activity. On this day, the chief of the office Gi-heon Song thanked the members, saying, "I'm really satisfied and pleased with the members of the Church of God, who willingly volunteer to help the handicapped and seniors living alone."

Dividing themselves into groups of two or three people, the members rushed to the houses of the handicapped and seniors living alone with the given addresses. "We are joyful for being able to share the love of God with our neighbors," said the members. When they visited the houses, they gave a haircut or permanent wave to the handicapped and seniors. They cleaned up the houses and dried the blankets in the sunlight. They also talked with the seniors who lived a lonely life. Having a heartful conversation, they served them with fruit.

Handicapped Eun-joo Lee(41) had hard times going to a salon because she could not move by herself. So she repeatedly thanked the members for coming to help her out. She who had been always living alone talked with the members just like real sisters while her hair was trimmed nicely.

Pan-sun Park(69) who injured her spine twice was happy to have her hair cut since she always worried about her hair. When the members suggested her to always smile with a joyful mind, she said with a bright smile, "How can I laugh when there's no joy? Now I laugh because you guys came to me."

"God bless you! Take care of yourselves until next time!" said the members, finishing their activity. The members held tightly the hands of their neighbors, wishing for their happiness.
