May 14, 2003 was 'The 2nd Food's Day.' A total 6 voluntary groups including Church of God have received awards from Korea Food and Drug Administration.

On behalf of Sim Chang-gu, Head of Korea Food and Drug Administration, Lee Jeong-sik, Head of Korea Food and Drug Administration in Daegu delivered the awards, saying, "These awards are given for the earnest voluntary works of running free meal camps for the neighbors in need. You've contributed to secure the bereaved families' safe food."

He also said, "I've visited the free meal camps. I honor the volunteers. Thanks to your endeavor and sincerity, any food poisoning didn't occur. Thank you very much." And he added, "Especially, the Church of God set an example to other voluntary groups."

The awarding ceremony ended at 11 o'clock and the representatives of 6 voluntary groups had an informal talk. Since they had built friendship through volunteer activity, the mood was pleasant.

The awardees including the Korea Red Cross Daegu Branch and the Daegu Agricultural Cooperative Volunteers Association, asked Kim Du-seok, Pastor of Church of God in Daegu, "How could you have done such a wonderful voluntary work?"

A representative of 'KT Love Voluntary Group' said, "I ever had meals at the Church of God's camp. You were really doing a great job. I told my staffs to visit your camp and learn from you."

"Actually, we and cooperations like KT do voluntary service for the interest of company. However, I think the Church of God does with pure intent," said a member of Daegu Agricultural Cooperative Volunteers Association. They both praised the pure heart of the Church of God's members.

Pastor Kim Du-seok gave all the glory to God, saying, "Actually we were more enhanced and thanked God to see the families of victims being back on their feet."

Officials of the Korea Food and Drug Administration visited the free meal supply camps and checked their sanitary conditions every day. These awards were given on the grounds of the Administration's field investigation. An official in charge was greatly satisfied with the Church of God's sanitary food supply and its clean recycling. He told other voluntary groups, "Go and learn from the Church of God."

Church of God operated the 24 hour free meal supply camp for 55 days since the Daegu subway fire tragedy occurred. Members of the Church of God soothed the afflictions of the bereaved family who visited the camp.
